Build the character first. Choose the platform second.

Character checklist

Define what must persist

Write the character’s role, boundaries, speaking style, relationship context, and visual continuity before comparing products. A platform with many presets may still be a poor fit if it cannot preserve the details that matter to you.

• Persona depthLook for editable background, tone, boundaries, scenario, and examples—not only a name and avatar.
• MemoryAsk what survives a long conversation, a new session, or a changed model.
• Media continuityFor image or video generation, check whether the same character can remain visually consistent.
• Ownership and deletionReview export, deletion, public-by-default settings, and how uploaded references are used.

Practical test

Run one repeatable scenario

Use the same short scenario on each candidate. Check whether the character follows the profile, remembers a detail later, respects boundaries, and explains which actions consume credits. Keep the result as your own comparison; do not treat a single response as a universal quality score.

Evidence boundary

Directory descriptions are a starting point

A current directory entry confirms only the cataloged name, destination, description, and checked-link state. Product policies, price, limits, and output quality must be verified against current provider evidence before publication.
